MAI Basic Four S/10 microcomputer
UvA Computer Museum catalogue nr 02.23
The MAI (Management Assistance Inc.) Basic Four System S/10 (1982) is an office computer, built around the Z80 processor. There are two double-sided, MFM encoded, 96 track-per-inch, 622K 5.25" floppy drives; our machine also has the optional external 20M hard disk.
One ODT (Office Display Terminal) can be connected to the S/10. Both units have the same appearance and each use a Z80 processor (clock 4.6 MHz, 64K RAM) for display control. In fact the S/10 is just an ODT with the addition of a second circuit assembly, having its own Z80 with 64K RAM, and two floppy diskette drives. The terminal screens can accomodate 24 or 28 lines of 80 or 132 characters.
The system operates under CP/M or the proprietary BB/M operating system.
This system including the S/10 itself, the ODT and the external harddisk, and complete documentation and system software, was donated by Mr. R. Meihuizen, Amsterdam.
