Diablo Model 630 printer

UvA Computer Museum catalogue nr 97.18

The Diablo 630-ECS/IBM (1983) is a high quality daisy- (or daysy)-wheel printer with extended character set, designed to work with the IBM PC.
Its special 192-character printwheel can print the entire IBM PC character set. There are two characters on each of the 96 plastic petals, and, in addition to rotating, the wheel jogs slightly to print the inner character. Several printed characters require two strokes. In all, 241 separate characters can be printed at up to 40 characters per second.
The 630 has a 1344-character buffer. The baud rate can be set to 110, 300, 1200, or 2400. Our 630 can handle both single sheets of paper and pin-feed paper, the latter with a tractor clamped on top of the printer.
