Olivetti teletypewriter TC485
UvA Computer Museum catalogue nr 93.45
The Olivetti teletypewriter is a electromechanical alphanumeric
terminal, using a matrix printer mechanism (30 char/sec) and a tape
cartridge for local data storage. Many of these terminals were used
for teaching at our university's Mathematics department in the
1970's, before Computer Science became a regular academic
discipline in the Netherlands.
The illustration is taken from an advertisement in
Scientific American, July 1971.
