The 'Series 90' of Pro-Log Corp., USA 1975, was used for programming erasable and non-erasable read-only memory (EPROM, PROM).
Programs (sequences of bytes representing computer instructions) could be written to a target PROM either by copying them from a 'master' PROM, or by entering them through the built-in keyboard, a teletype or a papertape reader.
In order to support various families of PROMs, the instrument features a set of plug-in 'personality' modules. An ultraviolet erase light for EPROMs is also provided.
The heart of the programmer is an Intel 4004 microprocessor chip set, with in EPROMs its own program and a set of subroutines for the various personality modules.
The 4004 CPU (world's first microprocessor) is the smaller top left chip.
The Pro-Log programmer was donated by the late Cees Bijster, Kolhorn (NL).
