Televideo 950 terminal

UvA Computer Museum catalogue nr 16.03

insight terminal

This alphanumeric terminal, introduced by Televideo Systems Inc. in 1980, has a superficial resemblance with the DEC VT1xx family of terminals (1978). It has many advanced features, including editing and line-drawing capability, 22 user-definable function keys, split screen with line lock. The tilting screen promised in the advertisement above is missing in our specimen, neither is it mentioned in the various manuals. The price (not stated in the ad) was US$ 1195.
The advertisement was taken from the 25th Anniversary issue (September, 1982) of the Datamation magazine.
Our example bears the logo of Bull below the screen. Apparently being an OEM version, its properties may be different in some respects.
The terminal was donated by Jos Vos of X/OS Experts in Open Systems BV, Amsterdam.
